Pacquiao Ready for Mayweather!

Philippine boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao threw down a fresh challenge to Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Thursday, during the American world champion to "fight me" instead of setting terms that could torpedo the dream about.

Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach revealed they are already preparing for the fight boxing craves more than any other – a mouthwatering showdown against pound-for-pound No.1 Floyd Mayweather.

"I think it’s time to say something. The people deserve that fight. The fans deserve that fight. I think it’s time to make that fight happen," said Pacquiao of a possible clash with Floyd Mayweather Jr., the sport’s current pound-for-pound best fighter, according to The Ring magazine.

“It’s been a long time that I want that fight but I’m just the one talking about that fight. The other camp, they’re always denying to talk about that fight. So better to say nothing,”  "I think it’s time [for Mayweather] to step up and say yes. People can prepare for early next year." said Pacquiao.

After Pacquiao’s six-knockdown Sunday conquest of Chris Algieri added fuel to the flame of reignited talks to stage the long-evasive super-fight, Roach told reporters he brokered a meeting earlier this year between Pacquiao promoter/fight-maker Bob Arum and CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves.

Arum and Moonves, who had had previously frosty relations for several years, have held advanced discussions about Pacquiao and Mayweather squaring off.

Asked if he trusted Mayweather, Arum replied, "No", before adding "but I trust Les Moonves. For the head of CBS to spend that much time on something would be counter-productive if it was (nonsense)."

“Bob says it’s going to happen,” Roach said of the fight.

Roach is hoping for the best. He said Sunday he’s started to review Mayweather film again.

“I like challenges. It’s not an easy fight by any means, but I love Manny in that fight, and look forward to getting Manny ready for that fight,” Roach said.

“I know he’s the best opponent we’ve ever faced. I really need to do my homework. He does put a lot of things together a lot better than most fighters.”

Roach said not making the fight will “haunt them forever.

“Usually, the best do fight the best somewhere along the line, sometimes too soon, sometimes it’s a little late. But it’s going to be a good fight.”
