Plane passenger captured an electrifying video of intense lightning storm!
The dramatic moment of a spectacular rapid-fire lighting storm that lit up the sky was all captured by a plane passenger from his window seat.
The video was uploaded on YouTube by GDpix with a caption, "Flying from Toronto to Los Angles in Summer 2015, we passed by a huge lightning storm just to the east of us. Lightning was flashing several times per second!"
The video was filmed from the window of the plane Air Canada Airbus A321 flight travelling from Toronto to Los Angeles during the summer of 2015.
The video has only recently emerged though the flight took place last summer.
All the plane passengers on the plane witnessed all together the spectacular show which happened over the night sky.
According to MailOnline Travel, Captain Steven Draper from the British Airline Pilots Association, Lightning strikes don’t really affect the flying of an airplane, however, when flying near or through thunderstorms, pilots might employ specific procedures. They use weather radar to avoid the worst areas of a storm.
He also said that airplanes have a published 'turbulence speed' which give the passenger the best comfort and protection from the turbulence. During turbulence, a pilot may adopt to its speed. They may also turn up the flight deck lighting to reduce the dazzling effect of lightning and ensuring the aircraft ice protection is on.
A reassuring PA to the passengers can help if it has caused concern although most of the time lightning strikes do not need any specific action.
According to Captain Steven Draper, there were many situations where lightning strikes caused little or no damage at all. He also said that, occasionally a small part, often the nose cone, needs to be replaced. Areas that which are prone to lightning damage are usually quite clear-cut to change.
