Eyeball Tattoo, are you brave enough to try it?

Are you brave enough to try this new fashion trend? Is the extreme eyeball tattoo look done for shock value? Better think twice before doing it.

Eyeball tattooing is being practiced since 150 AD. Roman physician & philosopher & later Aetius who first attempted to mask the Leukomatus Opacities of the eye, such as in the 2 consecutive images.

There are reports that the tattooed area fades after time,
depending on how it was applied or how the corneal tissues regenerated.

It is known as CORNEAL TATTOOING—it is the practice of tattooing the cornea of the human eye for cosmetic/medical purposes.

Traditionally patients receive corneal tattoo treatment to alter the cosmetic appearance of their eyes due to disease or an accident, but now many folks are getting it done for decorative purposes.

A single small injection from a tattoo needle has enough ink to cover about a quarter of the eye. It takes several injections to completely cover the sclera, which is then colored for life.

Tattooing inside the eye involves injecting pigment directly into the eyeball so it rests under the eye’s thin top layer, or conjunctiva

It feels like somebody is poking at your eye, then it feels like strange pressure and then it feels you have a bit of sand in your eye, but there’s no pain.

Before, physicians would cauterize the corneal surface with a heated stilet. Afterwards, they would apply the dye to the eye, using a variety of dyes such as powdered nutgails & iron or pulverized pomegranate bark mixed with copper salt.

These aren't just done for beautification but are also believed to improve eyesight!

Self expression is often a common reason for getting tattoos and body modification, but imagine once you get an eyeball tattoo it's permanent.
