A Silverback Mountain Gorilla shows their physical power when imitated. If they are provoked, they stand upright, throw things or make aggressive charges. They beat their huge chest to display dominance of the alpha male gorilla.

In the video below, a gorilla almost smashed the viewing glass in one of the local zoo in the United States because a spectator pounds her chest. The little girl thought that it was safe and as a sign of greeting to the gorillas. However, this sign shows dominance and to challenge the alpha male of the clan.

The gorilla saw her then he runs toward the window. The glass window almost broke by a huge force coming from the largest primate.

It seems that this gentle salutation makes the crowd go out of the zoo because of the annoyed gorilla.
