Chimpanzees are known for being smart which make them particular to any other animals. Chimpanzees could do certain things similar to humans, and this is what set them apart from others.

A chimp has proven they really are our closest relative as she played the ukulele like a pro.

Holly's shocking musical flair has turned her into a social media star after a video showing her strumming the string instrument racked up over 16,000 views.

The talented primate was raised in a home, and had a fairly luxurious life of drinking tea, eating pasta and lying in bed, The Brisbane Times reports.

First the zoo keeper holds the instrument up to the bars for her to pluck the strings and then he passes it under the cage.

Then the ukulele is passed over to her as she quickly takes her new prized possession as has a little play. Amazingly, she plays the instrument left handed.

'One of our keepers was playing his ukulele to her and she was really intrigued with his fingers plucking the strings so he bought her one,' Rockhampton Zoo keeper Yvette Fenning told The Brisbane Times.

'She was so fascinated - she picked it up just like it was supposed to be held and played with it for a good four hours at least.'

They believe because Holly has spent so much time around humans she adopted some human-like actions, which the zoo keepers were keen to encourage further.

Rockhampton Zoo in Queensland has only recently reopened after Tropical Cyclone Marcia.

Holly's musical session is all part of an enrichment program conducted by the Queensland zoo keepers as a way of keeping the bodies and minds of their animals active.

Some of the zoo's chimps have been integrated with otters, who are active for 12 hours of the day and are encouraged to play with balls that have food hidden inside them.

She said one of the zoo keepers was playing the instrument to Holly when she started taking an interest.

She said: "She was so fascinated – she picked it up just like it was supposed to be held and played with it for a good four hours at least."
