This kid was playing with a very odd friend.. When I realized what it was my jaw dropped!
They say that dog is “man’s best friend” but that’s not a sentiment that’s shared by all other animals. Animals and humans have been forming bonds since the dawn of time. However, occasionally a bond is formed that is unlike any other.
But here’s a very unusual one… the boy in this video has developed a special bond with a stingray!
There are several different types of stingrays, found in a variety of sizes and shapes. The species is divided into eight separate families. Stingrays are typically not aggressive but they’ve earned their name by having a poisonous stinger which they use when they feel their lives are being threatened.
The video of the little boy and his "friend" stingray was uploaded in YouTube. It has been heavily shared on social media and has garnered more than 24,000,000 views on YouTube.
The video was taken at the harbor of Vueltas, Valle Gran Rey where stingrays, eagle rays and butterfly rays pass regularly.
The brave little boy in the video was named Joel and he frequently plays with the stingrays at the stairs and often feeds them with fish.
Although stingrays are commonly harmless, it should be noted they are also capable of attacking in case you get them angry. Such as what happened recently where a 10-year old boy was attacked by a stingray. The creature sank an 8 inch barb 3 inches deep in his foot.
This most often happens to people when they stand accidentally on a stingray. Here’s a handy tip: if you walk into the sea and you know there are stingrays nearby, gently shimmy over the sand and they’ll probably swim away.
But in the video you will witness the bond the boy and the stingray had developed and how the boy and his friend spend quality time together.
