This cute squirrels almost ruined the Christmas spirit
Squirrel is such a cute animal. Just like in the movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks”. The chipmunks are the same family as the squirrel. The only different is that the chipmunks lives underground while squirrels lives in trees.
Squirrels are agile, bushy-tailed mammal. They are rodents that can be found in different places in the world. There are more than 200 species of squirrels and they are categorized as tree, ground and flying squirrels. They can grow from 2.8 to 5 inches long and they weigh at least 10 grams. The largest squirrels is called the Indian giant squirrel which can grow up to 36 inches and weights up to 1.8 kilograms.
Like bears, the squirrels prepare for the winter seasons. They store their food by burying it. They eat mostly fungi, seeds, nuts and fruits. They also eat eggs of small insects, caterpillars, small animals and even young snakes.
Squirrels have four teeth found in the front of their mouth which grows even when they are old. This is not to damage it because they are munching on nuts and other objects
This rodents run very fast which is around 32 kilometers per hour and can jump as high as 6 meters. This is because their body is nimble.
However, this lovable creature has an ability to destroy the Christmas spirit. In UK, the squirrels tear down a church bell of St Erth Parish Church in Cornwall. These fluffy vermin try to chew the tough rope that is tied on the church bells.
According to Verger Peter Pascoe, he noticed a muffle laying in the floor and he went up to the tower to check. When he got up, he saw a squirrel darting out the window, it was moving so quick that he barely go a look at it.
The cost of the damage is estimated at GBP 400. However, it costs more damage on the Christmas spirit in the neighborhood because the bells will be silent after the rodents destroy it. The church priests added that a festive service is held in this church since 1500s and traditionally they ring the bell before and after the festive celebration.
What can you say about this event? Do you think that this enchanting creatures are a real menace?
