An woman developed a potentially deadly infection because of falling asleep with her hair ties on her wrist.

The infected bump on Audree's wrist grew as big as a coin

At first, Audree Kopp noticed a little bump on her wrist but she did not think of it as anything serious.

As the days go by, the bump on Audree's wrist keeps on increasing in size. She tried to antibiotics hoping it will give solution and treat the bump on her wrist, still, it continues to grow. To this, she had no other choice but to go and see a doctor.

Audrey was sent to the emergency room where the doctors told her that the cause of her infection was the bacteria from her hair tie which probably got under her skin so she had to undergo a surgery.

An incision was need to be done by the doctors so the bump on Audrey's wrist will drained.

It was said that hair ties' sharp plastic or metal edges can nick the skin then the bacteria will get under the skin and there they will start to develop and cause nasty infection. The bacteria can also go through the skin's pores and hair follicles.

Bacteria on hair ties are caused using it continuously without washing it.

The doctors suggest that hair ties, or any other items that is worn on your skin should be washed frequently.
