This 18 year old girl from New York made her original designs that took her over 250 hours to make!
18 year-old costume designer Angela Clayton is from Long Island, New York. Started sewing three years ago when she got interested in joining cosplay. However, now, she attends events less often because she has focused more on making her own original designs.
Angela said that what got her interested in sewing historical fashion the first place was because of the costume work in the film The Three Musketeers and the series The Borgias.
She admitted that she spends most the hours of her day, every day, sewing. And if she is not sewing, she might probably thinking about it! Wow, talk about passion!
Angela hopes that there could be a future career where she will get out of. She said, "I love making costumes and I love bringing ideas to life. If I could do that for fashion, especially for theater or film, that would be awesome…I would rather go straight into that if I can instead of spending four years at school."
According to her, she was only 14 years old when she first started sewing. She made a a school uniform from an anime show which took her approximately two months to finish.
She said. "I was into cosplay, making costumes or wearing costumes to conventions, and I couldn’t afford the costumes that were available online"
"I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll make mine! That will be great and easy!’ It really wasn’t but I really enjoyed it" She added.
She continues to make costumes because she really enjoys the sewing aspect of it. Angela said, "I decided to just give myself more freedom for focusing on historical projects and original design"
Angela believes that if you practice well, you will definitely can do it too, though, it might take a while. Because sewing comes naturally to some people however it is something you can definitely learn to.
