Here is the EASIEST way in making your very own MAGNETIC FLUID!
One of the coolest thing to see in action is none other than Ferrofluid, also known as magnetic fluid.
Ferrofluid is a colloidal suspension of ferrous, which contains iron, and a liquid. It has magnetic particles in it. If the fluid is uncovered to a magnetic field, all the magnetic particles will line up with the field lines, and making the fluid much denser.
In making Ferrofluid, you have generally two possible ways. There is the expensive way and the cheaper way – but more difficult to do. Well, who would want the latter part anyway? Still, I’ll be giving the materials for it. You’ll need around $100 per cartridge of magnetic primer toner and some vegetable oil. While for the cheaper way will only cost about $10, however, it will be a little more tricky to do. You will be needing over10 cassette tapes, some aceton, plastic wrap, vegetable oil, magnets and the very important material, a strong chemical resistant bucket.
HouseholdHacker posted a video on YouTube showing the DIY way of making a magnetic fluid. The video had over 6 million views. Guess a lot of people are having fun at home!
Seen in the video, he used MICR toner, vegetable oil and an earth magnet. First thing he did was pour the toner into a cup, then, he added vegetable oil. The measurement will vary on how much metal fuild you would like to make. After combing the toner and oil, he stirred the two components until it got a nice thin consistency.
Amazingly, when he placed a magnet near the cup, the liquid magnetized which made some needle like jelly to pop up!
There are a lot of other cool things that you can do with this fluid! Watch the video below and share us your thoughts on the comment section!
