He also said that they can sometimes be disagreements on each and everyone’s views but we can defend the right to say it. He quoted, “I may not agree by what you said or you say but I will defend your right to say it. That’s how it should be.”
Mayor Duterte claimed that he couldn’t hear the student properly because the other students are kind of noisy.
“Maingay ang mga studyante doon they are also talking at the same time. So I cannot hear, vague masyado.” He said.
When he was again asked by another interviewer if he felt that he was disrespected, he strongly said, no. He clarified that students are like that because he was once a student, too, which is why he clearly understands. He said, “You don’t expect them to be old people na prim and proper. Those are the ways of youth and I, I can understand.”
Davao City Mayor Duterte knew that the student’s act was inappropriate but he just shrugged off the controversy because he doesn’t want the kid to be embarrassed in front of his schoolmates.
There has been an appeal from Mayor Duterte’s spokesperson for decency and compassion to not cyber bully his critics. “Yes.. yes. It’s correct. I would say the same thing.” the presidential candidate said.
