The amazing photo of an alligator with a raccoon on top of it was taken in Ocala National Forest in Florid on a Sunday morning.
Richard Jones, the one who took the picture, said: “Had a wonderful morning with the family in Ocala National forest and took an equally wonderful photo!”
Richard was walking with his family inside the forest when they spotted the alligator.
His son scared the raccoon while trying to take a picture of the alligator.
And so the raccoon hoped onto the alligator’s back and Richard snapped a picture.
"As for people questioning the photo, I doubt they've ever spent any time in the wilderness of Florida, he writes. Alligators and raccoons interact constantly, as do all of the animals in the swamp," Richard said.
After the picture was uploaded, it became an internet sensation.
According to television station WFTV, Richard snapped luck y picture right when the gator slipped into the water and before the raccoon jumped off and scurried away".
"Without the context you'd think the raccoon was hitching a ride across the river," he told the television station.
“I snapped a lucky picture right when the gator slipped into the water and before the raccoon jumped off and scurried away. Without the context you’d think the raccoon was hitching a ride across the river. Pretty amazing,” Jones said.
“Definitely the photo of a lifetime.”
But many who has seen the picture was thinking if it was real of just a hoax.
According to Jason Waller, a biologist for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Alligator Management Program, the idea of an animal jumping on the alligator’s back and it just casually swimming along like that is something very unusual.
Other expert, Hany Farid, a professor of computer science at Dartmouth College, checked the picture if its photoshopped.
He said that the lightning of the raccoon, alligator, water and the trees appear to be consistent. And it doesn’t seem Photoshopped.
"It would have been very difficult to fake the reflection since it is intertwined with the branches," Hany said.
So maybe it’s real and definitely the picture of a lifetime!
