Extremely dangerous creature was washed up on California's coast!
This is something you do not want to discover while having a family day at the beach!
On December 12, an environmental group called the Surfrider Foundation discovered an extremely venomous snake, in California's public beach, Bolsa Chica State Beach.
The said snake was soon recognized as the Yellow bellied Sea Snake which is 27 inch in length. This kind of sea snake can be found in the warm waters of the coasts of Australia, Mexico, Asia, Africa, Central America and among other places.
According to the reports of the media and The Surfrider Foundation, the El Niño might be the reason behind the incident. It may have caused the snakes to be seen far way from their usual environments.
During this event, the surface of the sea's temperature in the Pacific Ocean are milder than the usual. While the usual trade winds, also, the ocean currents can become more variable or might change their direction.
This year there is a unique feature of the El Niño, along side the El Niño is the persistent area of milder than usual ocean water of the California coast or what other climate scientists called as, "The Blob."
According to the Surfrider Foundation, there is a belief that the El Niño temperature change can have triggered the creature to swim to the direction of north searching for small fish and eels. This is where they can use their venom to paralyze.
While the assistant curator of the herpetology of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, Greg Pauly, said that they are already expecting this. The incident was indeed a rare event, however, it was also predictable with what they are currently experience, which is a dramatic El Niño year.
Greg Pauly added that people should always to keep their distance from these snakes if they might cross paths with one.
