According to an article by Ollie McAteer, Abul Bajandar, 25 years old from Khulna, Bangladesh, was admitted to the hospital after he suffered from a disease called the Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis for the past seven years. He was soon dubbed as the "tree man".

Doctors from the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) have formed a medical board of experts to decide on how to treat the young man.

The Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis disease is a rare and innate skin disorder which is characterized by an unusual receptiveness to infection with explicit types of human papillomavirus and a tendency for developing malignant skin tumors.

Doctors from the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) have formed a medical board of experts to decide on how to treat the young man.

According to an article by The Daily Star, Bajandar, who had been admitted to the burn unit of DMCH, was previously taken to the Gazi Medical College Hospital in Khulna.

However, Bajandar is not the first case of the condition dubbed as "tree man". The Discovery Channel reported on the 'original' tree-man from Indonesia in 2008 who was called Dede Koswara

The program showed the man returning home from the hospital after having six-kilo warts surgically removed from his body.

Koswara first noticed warts on his body after cutting his knee as a teenager. After that he was fired from his job and avoided by neighbors when the branch-like growths covered most of his body parts which prevented him from working.

Reports said that Koswara died last Saturday, however, the cause of his death was not Epidermodysplasia Verruciformi.

When Abul Bajandar's case became public, donations to fund his treatment began flooding in.
