Not your ordinary bottle! This one can amazingly turn AIR into drinking WATER!
If you’ve ever been out too busy to buy yourself a drink, this is for you.
Kristof Retezár, an Australian designer, designed and created a water bottle that can help people in placed where there is a scarcity in water. He did not want to depend on complex water purification systems, so he took matters in his own hand and made something simple yet portable.
His new creation called the Fontus, a self-filling water bottle that turns air into drinking water. It takes in the moisture from surrounding air then it will produce clean and drinkable water in approximately an hour. Assuming the the air is also relatively clean.
The air will flow inside the device and will hit series of hydrophobic bristles. This will help turn water vapor into droplets of water. On top of the Fontus, there is a small solar panel which keeps the battery charged. Also, the bottle has its own filter to keep bugs or dust out of your water. Within 1 hour, it can produce water up to 0.5 liters.
This is Fontus, a self-filling water bottle that turns air into drinking water. It extracts humidity form the air and condenses it into drinkable water. Humid air flows into the device and hits a series of hydrophobic surfaces. The hydrophobic surfaces turn the water vapor into actual droplets.
According to Live Science, Kristof Retezár said that the process is simply condensation of the humidity that is contained in the air.
However, the designer of the Fontus said that the current prototype is not perfect. Though it can filter out large contaminants, it can't keep out small contaminants such as sediment. In Kristof Retezár's future models, he hopes to make a carbon filter to the bottle to make it more useful in region where both water and air quality is an issue.
To be able to bring Fontus to market soon, its designer plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign. He hopes to have the price for the bottle under $100.
