Watch this guy as he lets deadliest snakes bite him for over 160 times!
This man didn’t do it for nothing. His reason will blow your mind.
For over 16 years, Tim Friede has been allowing snakes to bite him, hoping that by doing this, he will one day have a lead to the creation of snake venom vaccine.
For the whole course of 16 years he has already experienced over 160 bites from a variety of snakes, including the black mamba, who can kill a human in 20 minutes with only two drops of venom; the inland taipan, whose venom kills in 45 minutes; and the cobra, which, depending on the type, can kill an elephant with a single bite.
The 37 years old man said that he will not stop doing this until the vaccine is in the field or he dies. Tim Friede is obsessed by finding a human antidote to poisonous snake bites, which kill an estimated 100,000 people every year.
Tim Friede is still an amateur scientist which is why he is not doing this project alone. Together with his company Butterfly Sciences and microbiologist Dr. Brian Hanley, he has nearly doubled the number of antibodies in his body capable of fighting venom.
Hanley attributes this fighting capacity to the years of snake bites and self-injections of venom Tim Friede has received.
Tim Friede didn’t always walked away unharmed though he was able to survive the effects of the toxins. Once, he injected himself with monocled cobra venom powerful enough to cause necrosis (tissue death) in his leg — he subsequently self-amputated the muscle.
And last 2011, no more than two bites from a cobra were sufficient to put him in a coma. However, despite the high level of danger, Tim Friede is dedicated to his undertaking.
Tim Friede was recently bitten by a taipan and a black mamba, two deadly snakes he keeps at his home in Wisconsin, USA, in addition to his two rattlesnakes and water cobra. He said that though he experience a real throbbing sensation, he still felt great after the bites.
