Convicted Robber Has Shot a Music Video inside the Bilibid Prison

Herbert “Ampang” Colanggo the leader of a robbery gang was one of the 19 high-profile inmate found by DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima to b having a luxurious lifestyle inside the New Bilibid Prison’s maximum security compound.

Colanggo has been serving his 12 to 14 year prison sentence.

When the DOJ Secretary De Lima had the surprised inspection, they discovered a professionally furnished generator-powered 60-square-meter music studio with a stage for live musical performances. In this studio where Colanggo had recorded five songs composed by noted Edith Gallardo, the tunesmith behind Aiza Seguerra’s hit “Pagdating ng Panahon”.

It was also discovered that Colanggo has a Youtube Channel where everyone can view his four-minute video of “Pa’no yon,”

The video, where he is backed by a professional band, was obviously shot inside his now-famous music studio, which is expected to be demolished soon.

According to ANC, the convicted robbery gang leader Herbert Colanggo released his single,
“Kinabukasan”, in March this year and tied with ABS-CBN actor Richard Yap as the New Male Recording Artist of the Year at the 6th Star Awards for Music.

Colanggo’s single “Kinabukasan” was released by Ivory Records this March. And after a month of being released, the album received gold and platinum records.

The luxurious items in his quarters, Colanggo said, were donations, adding that officials of the Bureau of Corrections were well aware of them.

"Mga donation po 'yon [mula] sa mga kaibigan, mga politician at lalo na 'yung aking uncle," he said, adding that the relative is a congressman.

There were also found six expensive wrist watches, diamond-studded Patek Philippine watch, five bag-faced Rolex watches, Cartier and Officine Panerai watches, an Hermes belt and branded wallets full of cash.

The upper floor of Colangco’s kubol is furnished with a black leather sofa and a dining table with an unobstructed view of the tennis court.

Colanggo was convicted in 2009, and is serving a 12-14 year sentence; he was associated with several bank robberies in Metro Manila and was stricken off the most wanted list of the Philippine National Police in 2009.
