SHARK ATTACK at North Carolina beach!
People should be enjoying a day at the beach what happened to this two teenagers are completely shocking!
Both teenage girl and boy are enjoying at the beach when they were separately attacked by a shark less than two hours apart on Sunday in coastal waters off Oak Island, North Carolina.
A 14-year-old girl was attacked at 4pm local time. A man heard her screaming and came to her aid. She lost her left arm and loses her left leg.
The girl was bleeding heavily, and people applied makeshift tourniquets while asking her questions to try to keep her conscious.
Little more than an hour, a 16-year-old boy was also attacked by a shark which occurred about 2 miles apart (3 km) on the same stretch of beach .The boy lost his arm below the shoulder, officials confirmed.
At 4:12 pm, Brunswick County received a call from the said beach and also several agencies including Oak Island Police and the Air Link Helicopter responded to the scene near Ocean Crest Mote.
According to Mayor Betty Wallace, the teenagers had to be airlifted by a helicopter to a hospital in Wilmington.
The attacks occurred in waist-deep waters about 20 yards (18 meters) offshore.
Terrifying beachgoers and prompting one witness to compare the scene to the 1975 thriller movie “Jaws”.
According to the hospital’s spokeswoman, the pair arrived at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in a critical condition but has responded well to the treatment.
Some experts said that it was likely a blacktip or a spinner shark, which are usually about six to seven feet long. When these animals mistake humans for fish and bite them, they tend to realize and just go away.
Local officials tried to get everyone out of the water, the and according to the mayor; the Brunswick County Sheriff's office was planning to have a helicopter patrol the coastline.
The two attacks followed another frightening encounter on Thursday at a nearby beach.
A 13-year-old escaped with cuts on her foot when a shark chomped down on her boogie board.
