Family of cockroach found inside a 19-year-old man's ear

Mr. Li, a 19-year-old man was complaining of earache and decided to go the hospital in the city of Dongguan, in the southern Chinese region of Guangdong Province.
He had woken up in the night complaining of a painful and itchy right ear. Good thing he went immediately to the hospital for checkup.
The doctors who checked Mr. Li, was horrified when they discovered an entire family of roaches living inside his ear.
The worst part was that the insect had given birth to 25 more babies inside his ear.
According to the doctors, the cockroach had crawled inside Mr. Li's ear and laid eggs several weeks earlier.
This caused severe congestion and swelling of Mr Li’s right ear, as well as damage to the skin in the ear canal.
The doctor later extracted the cockroach from his ear, measuring 0.3 inches long.
After they removed the insects, the doctors told him that he was lucky to have sought medical attention immediately or else his ear could have been destroyed.
Mr. Li could also suffered permanent hearing loss if the insects were not caught on time.
The insects were removed using a special liquid.
A female cockroach can carry a capsule contain around 40 eggs, with the development into adults from egg taking around three to four months.
Cockroaches are nocturnal creatures that prefer dark and warm environments such as the inside of an ear canal. Depending on temperature, a typical batch of cockroach eggs can take between 24 to 70 days to hatch, which means the mother cockroach may have been living in Mr. Li's ear for some time.
Roaches are some species that are capable of surviving for a month without food and are able to survive on limited resources.
