This couple had their worst nightmare after having fun.
These couple couldn’t go the bar with their baby so what they did was awful.
Antonio Nieves, 28 and Amy Schafer, 27, allegedly chose to leave their 3-month-old baby outside O’Malley’s Sports Bar in Margate, Florida, while they stayed inside the bar and drank shots for more than two hours on Tuesday morning.
They were charged with child abuse and child neglect. The couple was causing disturbance while they were trying to get inside their home.
According to Det. Erin Blanton, they responded to their home at 3:30am. Nieves was also charged with domestic battery for allegedly punching Amy.
When officers arrived, Schafer told police they were at O'Malley's Sports Bar on State Road 7 between 1 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. and had brought their baby. The bar manager told them they could not have the child inside, so they put the infant in a car carrier that they left on the sidewalk outside.
Amy claimed that another bar patron was keeping an eye on her son as well.
During the couple’s appearance at the court on Wednesday, Broward County Judge Hurley said that the mother would then allegedly check on him every five minutes and then go back inside to do shots with her husband.
According to Amy Schafer, they didn’t want to cancel their bar outing so she took her son outside and left him on the sidewalk in his car carrier.
While they were at the bar they started arguing and so the manager kicked them out of the bar. They were still fighting when they got home and a witness called 911.
Later that morning police got a call from a private residence on Northwest 27th Street about an intruder and the pair got arrested.
When the police arrived they found Antonio standing with his baby outside the home and found Schafer with injuries across her face, said that Antonio had punched her at least three times during an argument.
The baby was taken from the couple and placed under care of the state’s Department of Children and Families.
Antonio Nieves is being held on $10,000 bail and Amy Schafer is being held on $7,500 bail.
