Meet Roux, the adorable two legged cat that has more than 80k followers on Instagram just one month after creating her account.
She was then adopted by Jackie Dean Akey, a vet clinic worker in New Orleans, who immediately loved her as soon as she saw her. And from that moment, she was certain to take her home last October. Because the cute cat hops just like a little rabbit, she decided to call her a “bunny-cat”.
It was a tough life for the adorable bunny-cat Roux because she was born with just two hind legs which made it impossible for her to bury her waste in her litter box. This was also the reason why her previous owner has given her up.
Despite this, Roux still lives healthy, happy and really smart! She was able to work out how to do everything on her own and be just like a normal cat. Because her hind legs are very strong, it can run amazingly fast and can even jump onto the sofa.
In one of Roux short clips on Instagram, she is seen hopping around her house, with her remarkably strong back legs to support her actions.
Now, just after one year, Roux is happier than even in her new home with her new owner.
According to Jackie Dean Akey, Roux was born without her legs because of a congenital abnormality which is most likely due to a rare condition called transverse hemimelia. She also said that her X-ray shows her front legs stop at the humerus which is the upper bone of the front leg.
Jackie proudly added that Roux’s mobility is really good and she can function quite well even without both her front legs.
Though there can be potential back problems when she grows older, at the present, her X-rays still look healthy.
