Shocking ingredients in the McDonald’s French Fries!
Starting last year McDonald’s began a transparency campaign most likely to create a more health- and consumer-conscious image of the corporation. |
Grant Imahara Mythbusters host takes the viewers through the ingredients and the process in two separate videos, one of which shows us that McDonald's fries do in fact come from potatoes that were harvested from an actual farm! And, thankfully potatoes are also number one on the list of ingredients.
However, the list is quite long and includes items like this tongue twister: dimethylpolysiloxane. Dimethylpolysiloxane, "an anti-foaming agent" that "helps keep the oil from splattering," actually makes the list twice because McDonald's fries are fried twice! Frying is done partially at the factory and then again at the individual restaurant locations.
McDonald’s is still the leading global fast food chain with 18,710 international restaurants. |
And the most puzzling thing is that McDonald's french fries, according to McDonald's, don't have 17 ingredients, as some have suggested. They have 19!
Watch the video below for the full list of ingredients and how McDonald's fries are made from start to finish. Really interesting!
