Rice balls are one of the famous dish in Japan, they are traditional Japanese treats that are shaped by hand.
These rice balls inspired parents parents to squash their babies' faces in a bizarre trend which went viral in social media sites!
This trend was started by Masahiro Ehara from Tokyo when he squished his baby's with his hands and uploaded it to social media site, with the hashtag #RiceBallBaby.
Ever since Masahiro's post got viral, many users also uploaded there own version of the #RiceBallBaby. It also has become one of Japan's biggest memes this 2015.

The rice balls, known as o-nigiri, can actually be formed into any shape - such as a pandas or smiling animal faces - and are then wrapped in 'nori', otherwise known as seaweed. The snacks are flavoured with salt and rice vinegar and are hugely popular in Japan.
